Comprehensive Examinations

During the comprehensive exam we will review and discuss your medical and dental history and take your blood pressure. We will then evaluate your teeth, gums and do a screening for gum disease and oral cancer. We will also review any concerns you may have regarding your teeth and general oral health, including any cosmetic concerns.

Sealants

A dental sealant is a thin, protective coating for your teeth. It protects the teeth from decay.

Partials

A partial is a removable appliance that replaces some of the teeth in either the upper or lower jaw.

Crowns

A crown is dental restoration covering all or most of the natural tooth; the artificial cap can be made of porcelain, composite or metal and is cemented on top of the damaged tooth.

Wisdom Tooth Extractions

A wisdom extraction is the removal of a wisdom tooth. To remove the wisdom tooth, your dentist will open up the gum tissue over the tooth and take out any bone that is covering the tooth. He or she will separate the tissue connecting the tooth to the bone and then remove the tooth. Sometimes the dentist will cut the tooth into smaller pieces to make it easier to remove.

Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers are thin, custom-made shells of tooth-colored plastic or porcelain that are bonded directly to the front side of natural teeth to improve their appearance – for example, to replace lost tooth structure, close spaces, straighten teeth or change color and/or shape.

Teeth Whitening

Here at Campos Family Dental, we use a solution called Opalescence and it is extremely effective. Teeth whitening is a process which lightens discoloration of enamel and dentin. The system uses a mild solution retained in a custom-fitted tray that is worn over your teeth. Results are usually seen in the first night. Maximum results generally occur when the process is continued for 10 to 14 nights.

Some people experience tooth sensitivity to cold during the treatment. Others have reported temporary discomfort, such as gum or tooth sensitivity. These symptoms always disappear within 1-3 days after interruption or completion of the treatment. The teeth will always be lighter than they were. However, some patients may need periodic re-bleaching for two nights every six to twelve months.

Night Guards

A night guard is a removable acrylic appliance that fits over the upper and lower teeth used to prevent wear and temporomandibular damage caused by grinding or gnashing of the teeth during sleep.

Teeth Cleanings

A teeth cleaning is the cleaning of the teeth for the prevention of periodontal disease and tooth decay. This procedure consists of the removal of plaque and calculus (tartar) from teeth, generally above the gum line.  Some patients may require a deep-cleaning. A deep-cleaning is a  nonsurgical procedure whereby plaque and tartar from above and below the gum line are scraped away (scaling) and rough spots on the tooth root are made smooth (planing).

Bridges

A bridge is a stationary dental prosthesis (appliance) fixed to teeth adjacent to a space; replaces one or more missing teeth, cemented or bonded to supporting teeth or implants adjacent to the space. Also called a fixed partial denture.

Root Canals

A root canal is a treatment used to repair and save a tooth that is badly decayed or becomes infected. During a root canal procedure, the nerve and pulp is removed and the inside of the tooth is cleaned and sealed.

Fillings

A filling is restoration of lost tooth structure. Here at Campos Family Dental, we do both resin and amalgam fillings. A resin is a tooth-colored restorative material composed of plastic with small glass or ceramic particles; usually "cured" or hardened with filtered light or chemical catalyst. An amalgam filling is also known as "silver fillings," which contains mercury in combination with silver, tin, copper and sometimes zinc.

Dentures

A denture is a removable replacement of artificial teeth for missing natural teeth and surrounding tissues. Two types of dentures are available -- complete and partial. Complete dentures are used when all the teeth are missing, while partial dentures are used when some natural teeth remain.

Minor Periodontal (Gum) Treatment

A deep cleaning (scaling and root planing) is a conservative procedure to treat gum disease. It is usually performed by the hygienist where the plaque and tartar are thoroughly cleaned off of the root surfaces of your teeth and the infected gum pocket lining surrounding each tooth is removed. This is usually done while the patient is numb to minimize any discomfort. Doing this procedure allows us to remove the source of the irritation so that healing can occur. Most patients find the procedure comfortable and very tolerable. The end result will be improved health of the gum tissue and prevention of further bone loss.

Sports Mouth Guards

A custom mouth guard is a soft-fitted device that is inserted into the mouth and worn over the teeth to protect them against impact or injury. We can customize your mouth guard with your school colors, mascot and name or initials.
